A Medical Reviewer or Drug Safety Physician is a physician who reviews the safety of drug products through analysis of adverse event data from clinical studies and other post-marketing sources in order to ensure patient safety. The primary role of a Drug Safety Physician is to monitor the benefit/risk ratio of a drug by detecting and addressing any safety issues that arise. Thus, evaluation of adverse event reports, investigation of safety signals and participation in risk mitigation strategies is all part of the process of ensuring medicines remain both safe and efficacious.
